Shape vs Concept

With his work Vultaggio seems to offer a conscious mediation between these two tendencies. The shapes of his projects are studied with the logical-graphic process described above, but in the final stage (the adjustment) are modified according to the taste of the public. Shapes are appealing and intriguing, chaotic, undefined or, to be precise, unfinished just to the extent of raising interest. Vultaggio knows the power of the coup de théâtre in contemporary architecture and employs it in his projects with full awareness. He totally rejects per se shapes (as in the first approach depicted above); he generates shapes from his “design protocol” and its final adjustments. Anyway, just because he is aware of the media mechanisms that rule society, he chooses not to hide his formal decisions behind any curtains painted in intellectual or artistic popular colours.
